About Dominic le Fave

I am a philosopher and philosophical counselor in Portland, Oregon. I hold an MA (1988) and M.Phil. (1991) from Syracuse University. I have taught religion and philosophy at Syracuse University, Syracuse University College at Auburn State Prison, New York, Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts, and Chemeketa Community College in Oregon. I have been offering philosophical counseling services since 2003.

I have experience in a diversity of practical and working situations including business management, adult and child education, publishing, and consulting. I am currently involved in high school education, special education, and I have worked with adults with developmental and cognitive disabilities.

I have worked to bring philosophical insights to all people and all areas of life. From the seminar rooms of northeastern universities to maximum-security prison yards, from business conference rooms to the cafés of Seattle, I have discussed philosophical issues with people from all walks of life and have seen the deepening and transformative effects of the examined life in their practical, day-to-day expressions.

I have been deeply involved in the arts and with artists. My current avocations include painting and poetry. In addition to being particularly attuned to the challenges of the creative life, I haveworked with many to help break new creative ground and develop new vision in work, partnerships, spirituality, parenting, and life direction.
